This KS4 Chemistry resource helps situate the steps in the discoveries that lead to our understanding of atomic structure.

There are thirteen key discoveries with their scientists, including Lavoisier, Dalton, Mendeleev, Rutherford and Chadwick. The final card includes the Large Hadron Collider and current research.

The table could be cut up to allow students to match and sequence the cards before adding them to a timeline.

Very useful. Might be worth considering adding the discoveries of Marie Curie in here, which were instrumental in pushing the area forward? It's just that then the whole document wouldn't be dominated by men. Otherwise a fun activity, thank you!
