Waves and ultrasound quest

Students use the included station map and answer questions along their journey to decode the phrase. This is best suited to paired group work and should take students up to an hour to complete.

You are a secret agent waiting at the Edison Station, when someone runs past you, dropping a very old looking map at your feet. Feeling very suspicious, you pick up the map and find that there is a strange decoder key beneath what appears to be an old copy of the railway stations in the area. You decide that this is something that has to be investigated and start your journey.

Example questions

  • What is meant by a vacuum?
  • What is the definition of wavelength?
  • Name a medical use of ultrasound.
