Work done – practical investigation
This practical is perfect for KS3 students investigating the work done when an object is pulled a certain distance.
The resource has student instructions to guide them through the method, recording results, calculating work done, presenting data and drawing conclusions. It provides a good structure for the investigation.
It provides an ideal opportunity for students to practice a variety of maths skills - including calculating averages, using the equation work done = force x distance and drawing and interpreting graphs.

I adapted this for a lesson on forces, just measuring the force and not calculating the work done. Students worked well on the investigation.
