Work done – practical investigation

This activity is suitable for KS3. Students investigate the force needed to move a block. The worksheet guides them through recording their results and introducing the equation

work done = force x distance

There are questions at the end to help students analyse and evaluate their results.

I adapted this for a lesson on forces, just measuring the force and not calculating the work done. Students worked well on the investigation.
