In this KS4 chemistry resource, students compare the structure of compounds with what John Dalton thought they were when he developed a system of chemical symbols. Ideal as a starter or homework activity.
Students are given a key to Dalton's symbols and the formulae for common compounds, such as ammonia, water and sulfuric acid, using the symbols. They are asked to find the correct molecular and structural formulae for each compound. The answers are included.
