This KS4 energy resource would be useful as a starter activity when introducing energy efficiency. A range of activities designed to develop students' understanding of energy efficiency, with opportunities for them to practise calculating it.

The first activity introduces the energy efficiency equation and gives students lots of practice calculating the efficiency of different appliances.

In the second activity, students are asked to illustrate the transfer of energy using Sankey diagrams.

It would be nice to have some slightly more challenging calculations, as all of these just lead you to efficiency - GCSE exsam questions will, sometimes, ask you to use a given efficiency to work backwards to the total energy input, or the useful output. But a good starter resource, thank you.

Used with an SEN class and it was visual, clear and loads of examples to help understand.
